The Precarious Lives of Food Bloggers

eating

I wrote this on Monday evening and scheduled it to post on Tuesday morning…and it didn’t! This is the second time I’ve tried to schedule a post with no luck…hmm.

You know who I’ve been rocking out to lately? (Other than Cartel?) Hootie and the Blowfish. The 1990s had some awesome music and I will not be ashamed to drive down the highway singing along to Cracked Rear View at the top of my lungs!

I did some major sleeping in Monday morning…I think my mom called and woke me up at 11:45AM. I did stay up until past 4AM, though…

When I woke up, I tried nibbling on some donut holes again…

…nope, still taste funny.

In the afternoon I went to Target to spend part of my birthday money, because I wanted to shop.  I bought a hair straightener in an attempt to keep the humidity from making my hair go FLOOF so quickly, and also these starry plates that were on clearance.

While I was there I found several things in the $1 section that are now in this box (which I also bought), which will soon be in the back of my car as my emergency kit!

A poncho, glow sticks, and a mini first aid kit (all in the $1 bin), plus some gauze, paper tape, and alcohol pads that I also bought…I added a couple of mini bottles of water and some Larabars to round it out for now. Despite the Boy Scout jokes I got when I posted this on Facebook (*ahem*), it really is a good idea to have something in your car for emergencies…what if my car broke down in the rain and I needed to put on the poncho and flag down someone with a glow stick? Oh, it could happen.

Plus y’all know how accident-prone I am. Case in point: I have no idea how I cut my finger in two places while putting things into a box.

For a late lunch, I took Sunday’s dinner-that-wasn’t and put it into a pan on the stove. Steak, fried potatoes, and onions…

It would’ve been better in the oven. Sigh.

I’m shocked to have only lost one taco in the course of photographing my food.

After I ate, I decided that I had a better idea for the little first aid kit that I put into the box for my car. Everything that was in it was already in the box in another form…

…so I pulled it out, folded it up, wrapped it in saran wrap, and tucked it into my MP3 player armband.

Hey, I’ve seen plenty of pictures on running blogs of runners with bloodied knees and scraped shins…it is not out of the realm of possibility that I will one day have to deal with blood gushing out of my leg in the course of a walk/run. Nothing wrong with being prepared.

I also made sure to restock the $5 I keep in my armband, along with an old driver’s license with my current contact info written on it.

As soon as I get my new license in the mail, I’ll be replacing this one (the first driver’s license I got! Which I kept until I had to get a duplicate with a new address when I was 23, even though it says Under 21 on it!) with my duplicate that has my current address on it.

Really. There is nothing wrong with being prepared.

I also wear my RoadID when I walk/run. Just for overkill.

I took a 4.4 mile walk early in the afternoon and ended up getting rained on a little, but it was so hot outside that it felt good. When I came back I filled up my big cup with pink lemonade Crystal Light.

And then I watched half of The Road (Viggo Mortensen, wear clothes, for real), then stopped for a shower and to heat up half of the spinach and mushroom enchilada that’s been chilling in my freezer since around Cinco de Mayo.

By the time you read this I’ll be back at work be done with work for the day..I had a nice vacation but I was starting to get a little bored!
