I Hate Nail Guns

eating

My apartment complex is usually very good about letting residents know about work that’s being done around the buildings, which is why I’m extremely annoyed that there are currently two guys on the steps right outside my living room window with nail guns and hammers. Did I mention I’m on the second floor? If I’d known this was going on I would’ve gone ahead and taken the dog for a walk–it’s a  lovely day out and he wants to go outside. Instead, I’ve been run out of my living room, where I was happily watching Olympic coverage, and into my bedroom, where I can still hear them.

I hope they’re almost done. This stuff only happens on my day off…

…actually, I guess I only know about it on my day off. But I do wonder what kind of crazy noises are plaguing my poor dog throughout the day.

Hey, I think maybe they’re done? Maybe? I’ll check when I’m done posting…

Today I slept in. It’s a good thing I could do so today, because the men’s ice skating went on until past midnight last night! Watching the Olympics is exhausting.

After I got up, I did not eat. Instead, I made a list and then went to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. I bought lots and lots of nice fresh food, and my fridge went from being barren (seriously, barren) to nice and full!

See?

Guess I spoke too soon…I hear hammering again…

For a while last year I got into the habit of buying myself a bunch of whichever flowers were on sale at Harris Teeter every week. It’s amazing how buying some (dead) flowers, sticking them in a vase with some water, and plopping them on a table can brighten up a room and make you feel better.

Buying dead flowers and putting them in an old glass peanut butter jar works, too.

See, my hoarding came in handy–makeshift vase for short flowers! These came from Trader Joe’s. I was going to get the tulips I saw when I first came in that were $3.99 for a bunch, but when I was heading back to the flower section after I finished the rest of my shopping I saw all these poor daffodils that were $1.49 each. So I picked some that were half open, half closed. I just like flowers in general, so daffodils are as good as tulips, plus these smell good!

As you can probably tell, I also have my blinds open today, because it is gorgeous and sunny outside!

After I got back from the store, when it was well into the afternoon, I finally decided to eat something. I made a nice salad with some sort of salad blend I grabbed at Trader Joe’s, cranberry-walnut-gorgonzola dressing, feta, mushrooms, and carrots.

And I made myself a fruit, veggies, and dip platter on the side.

I bought a hummus platter with four kinds of hummus in it at Trader Joe’s–I think this one is some sort of scallion one? I forget what it’s called–and some sweet cream cheese fruit dip at Whole Foods. I’m not really a big fan of strawberries unless they’re covered in sugar but they were really good with this dip!

Okay, I’m going to try to escape my apartment with the dog now…I think maybe the nail gun guys have moved on? We’ll see…oh, and tonight I must make a post about my new fitness sticker chart. It’s very mature.
