Deja vu all over again…
Didn’t I just make a post a few minutes ago? On to today…
After all that sleep, I woke up refreshed at 5:30AM and went off to work. I had the surface streets to myself as usual, but half of Raleigh was on the beltline this morning, and I have no idea why. Traffic cleared once I got closer to campus, and I spent the hours before the office really came awake getting loads of work done and eating my muffin.

I’ve still got so many of the muffins I made in the freezer–this was a peach one. They froze well, though, so I’m happy to keep eating them until they run out. And then I’ll make some more.
When snack time rolled around, I busted out some Trader Joe’s Greek Style Nonfat Yogurt. They have weird flavors. This was pomegranate.

It was the color of unwashed linen, not exactly appetizing. It was good enough, though none of the flavored Greek yogurt I’ve had so far compares with the Chobani 0% peach.
For lunch, I decided to try to finish off that loaf of bread I bought on Friday. I didn’t quite make it, but I got a deconstructed salami sandwich out of the deal.

Challah bread from the Farmer’s Market, colby-jack cheese, Genoa salami, three tomatoes from my parents’ garden, and some dip made with Greek yogurt. I love stuff like this that’s easy to eat while I work.
This was easy to eat while I worked, too!

Another of those delicious chocolate soymilks and a little handful of mini peanut butter cups. I ate this before my first Chinese lesson to tide me over until the end. I knew learning Chinese was going to be difficult, but I was a little dazed coming out of the meeting room where we had the class–the teacher went right into a lesson and it was so different than anything I’ve ever done! I’m up for the challenge, though, especially after I found a lonely box of Dunkin Donuts donut holes sitting on the break room table.

I had two cinna-sugar ones and a powered sugar one. My workplace is where food goes to be devoured–you can pretty much bet on finding something waiting to be eaten every day.
I headed to the marketplace after work, because my beloved Heathcliff was out of dog food (and I needed to grab a few things at the store). I got him a bag of Innova at the froo-froo dog store, and then decided to get him a cow trachea as well.

That thing was gone in fifteen minutes. Three dollars well-spent for the love of a dog…
While browsing the fresh-made bread section of Harris Teeter, I spied a package of stone-ground whole wheat pita bread peeking out from a shelf. I was already planning to make what my family always called “pitas” when I was growing up–beef or chicken, peppers, onions, and tomatoes wrapped in a tortilla and topped with sour cream–so I decided to give them a go.

A little breadier than I would have liked, but pretty good. I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
I thought yesterday was a nice day–cool and rainy–but today was beautiful, breezy and sunny, but still wonderfully cool. It felt like autumn in North Carolina already, and in August that is just not right, but I decided to enjoy it anyway. I took Heath for a walk after dinner. I brought my camera in the hopes that he would pose for a picture, but he was too wound up from all the other dogs, and apparently so hot that when I told him to sit he would sit and then flop down on the ground.

Shortly after I took this picture, he fell completely over and lay there until I made him get back up. Drama queen…
Never fear he was perfectly perky on the way back to the apartment.

Silly dog.
